GPS Week Number Rollover
On April 6, 2019, the transmitted GPS week number in the navigation message will rollover from 1023 to 0. Any GNSS receiver that does not account for this rollover will report an erroneous date. This event is occurring due to the end of the current GPS Time Epoch. GPS Time uses 10 bits to count GPS Week Numbers and can only cover a finite period of 1024 weeks (19.7 years epoch).
We would like to assure our customers that there should be no impact on any of our CHCNAV GNSS receivers. In preparation for this event, CHCNAV has performed tests using a GNSS simulator to verify that the receiver firmware correctly handles the week rollovers which have been accounted for and implemented in all CHCNAV GNSS receivers firmware.
