The 9th China Satellite Navigation Conference
Harbin, China (May 23, 2018) The Ninth China Satellite Navigation Conference opened in Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, Wednesday. The conference is set to proceed from May 23-25, with the theme of "Location, Time and Augmentation." China Satellite Navigation Academic Conference is one of three major international satellite navigation conferences. The annual conference has been held in cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou since 2010.
Experts from countries and regions including China, United States, and Russia attended the three-day event to exchange ideas on satellite navigation applications, location services, and other similar topics.
Discussions about China's BeiDou Satellite System is one of the dominant conference topics. The simple functioning orbital network formed by the first eight of 35 BeiDou-3 satellites was announced by a spokesman from the state-owned 3rd generation satellite company.
"Within the past six months from November 2017, China has launched eight BeiDou-3 satellites, and the orbital test results on the 8-satellite simplest network have been positive," said Ran Chengqi, director of the China Satellite Navigation Office.
Compared to earlier generation satellites such as BeiDou-1 and BeiDou-2, the BeiDou-3 is able to send signals that are more compatible with other satellite navigation systems, and provide satellite-based augmentation, as well as search and rescue services in accordance with international standards. Its positioning accuracy has reached 2.5 to 5 meters.
According to Wang Li, chairman of China Satellite Navigation System Committee, the satellites network will provide preliminary services for countries and regions along the OBOR (One Belt One Road) by the end of the year. And the BeiDou System is moving to become a global service provider after offering stable and reliable time and space information for clients in the already covered Asia-Pacific region. "Another 11 [satellites] are scheduled between 2019-20: six medium orbit satellites, two geostationary satellites and three inclined geosynchronous orbit satellites, " Wang added.
As a leading company in the BeiDou related high-tech fields, CHC Navigation’s display of products in the conference exhibition attracted a lot of attention, as the pinnacle of surveying and navigation equipment. It can be expected that along with the booming of Beidou System, CHCNAV products and services will have an even more important role to play in the international market.
