Bulgarian Geodesy, Mapping and Cadaster Agency selected CHCNAV i80 GNSS receivers
Overview
In July 2019, Terralang Ltd., the authorized CHCNAV reseller in Bulgaria delivered to the Geodesy, Mapping and Cadaster Agency (GMCA) 30 sets of i80 GNSS equipment in both base and rover configurations. A month later, in August, 60 employees of GMCA and its regional offices were trained to operate the delivered equipment and post-processing software.
The challenge
The GMCA is a Bulgarian government institution responsible for civil surveying and mapping, as well as for all cadastral works in the country. In addition to administration, the central authority and the territorial offices located in the 28 regional centers are engaged in technical activities for the acceptance and control of the results of the geodetic works assigned to various contractors. For this purpose is required equipment at a technological level not less than the one used for producing of the results tested, and above all surveying-grade GNSS receivers. Therefore, by the end of 2017, GMCA announced a tender procedure for the delivery of 30 sets of state-of-the-art GNSS equipment, capable for static and kinematic positioning, in real time and post-processed, both with VRS networks and single base stations.
The solution
The GNSS receiver of the CHCNAV portfolio that most fully meets the above requirements is i80. Bundled with the HCE320 controller, the LandStar7 mobile software, and the CGO 2 post-processing software, this solution offers the ability to perform GMCA control activities at a high technology level. After extensive commercial and technical evaluations, the CHCNAV solution was selected and the tender awarded to Terralang,
The results
GMCA is now equipped with state-of-the-art GNSS i80 equipment for its central and regional offices. Combined with the powerful HCE320 controller and the user-friendly LandStar7 mobile software, which offers a variety of geodetic functions and tools, GMCA employees have the ability to apply the highest standards for field verification of a wide range of surveying and cadastral works: control points and networks, terrain features of various geometry, property boundaries, and many more. In addition to the post-processing of the measurements collected with their own equipment, the CGO 2 software gives the GMCA personnel the opportunity for evaluating the results being checked starting from the earliest phase, the RINEX files submitted by the contractors. To make this possible, in July and August 2019, the Terralang team trained 60 experts of the GMCA central and regional offices. Organized in six shifts of ten attendees each, despite the summer vacation season, the trainees learned with interest the basics of working with the delivered equipment and software. For nearly twenty years of its existence, GMCA has made one of its largest deliveries of surveying equipment.
